As the number of wireless technologies such as RFID, WiFi, WiMAX, WiBro, 3G, Zigbee, Bluetooth and Ultra Wideband continue to grow, their integration into the enterprise is becoming an increasingly greater challenge. So as to be able to enjoy productivity, business and financial gains, these advanced wireless technologies need to be melded seamlessly with the business processes of the enterprise.
Therefore, technology developers and standards organizations need to focus their attention on the interface between the technology and the enterprise. Wireless service providers, systems integrators and technology companies need to create a cohesive interface with enterprise I.T. and enterprise technology infrastructure. While the convergence between different wireless technologies has been an ongoing phenomenon over the past several years, the melding of wireless infrastructure with the enterprise business infrastructure forms the next generation of Convergence or Convergence+. The Mobile Enterprise and Carrier Forum brings together wireless carriers together with enterprises to discuss how best to create the wirelessly connected, mobile enterprise of tomorrow and in the process, defining and refining the notion of Convergence+
